MBT
Advanced leadership development for the arena and live venue sector
Delivered in partnership with Ulster University Business School, the Arenas Europe MSc Business in Technology is the first Master’s programme developed specifically for the European arena and venue sector.
It is designed for professionals who want to deepen their strategic capability, broaden their understanding of business and technology, and prepare for greater leadership responsibility while continuing their careers.
The MBT is aimed at senior and emerging leaders working across arenas, live venues and the wider live events sector.
It is especially relevant for professionals who want to develop a broader view of the arena business beyond their own specialist function, and to strengthen their confidence in areas such as strategy, leadership, innovation and organisational change.
Arena management is a specialist discipline. Venues operate at the intersection of entertainment, sport, technology, commercial management, safety, customer experience and large-scale operations.
The MBT has been built around that environment.
Rather than adapting a generic business qualification for arena professionals, the programme connects academic learning directly with the realities of arena management through industry case studies, applied learning and peer exchange.
Technology sits at the heart of the programme as a driver of business change, alongside the strategic, commercial and leadership disciplines required to run complex venue organisations.
An equally important part of the experience is learning alongside professionals from other arenas and markets. Participants bring different expertise, perspectives and operational experience, creating a strong environment for peer learning across the Arenas Europe network.
The programme uses a blended learning model, enabling participants to combine postgraduate study with full-time employment.
The curriculum brings together:
The programme is designed to be academically rigorous while remaining directly relevant to the workplace.
The Arenas Europe Mentorship Programme adds a further industry dimension to the MBT, connecting students directly with former arena CEOs, General Managers and senior specialists from across Europe.
Drawing on decades of experience running major venues, mentors will share practical insight into leadership, career development and the challenges facing the sector, helping students connect academic learning with the realities of arena management.
Students will join groups of three to five for two or three mentor sessions during the year, usually online. Discussions will focus on career development, industry insight and the professional challenges students encounter in their roles.
Students will be able to draw on an industry mentor for practical feedback and perspective alongside the academic support of their university supervisor.
Senior industry figures will join the programme for guest lectures and fireside conversations, sharing case studies and practical experience from major European venues.
Topics will include arena leadership, venue development, business models, security, sustainability and the future of technology in live entertainment.
The Mentorship Programme gives students the opportunity to:
The programme will launch as a pilot with the February 2027 MBT intake, bringing together the student cohort, founding mentors and four Industry Leadership Talks, one aligned with each Master’s module.
